Types of Sources

For a full menu of research sources, go to the Library home page:

Sub-tabs in this section include tips and sources for finding:

a. 2 scholarly articles

One must be from a Sociological journal the second can be other liberal arts scholarly publications in disciplines to include but not limited to: Psychology, Criminal Justice, History, and Education. One page of the article (likely the first page w/ the title, abstract)…no need to copy the entire article.

b. 2 newspaper articles from the current semester

c. 2 print advertisements from any magazine

d. 2 folkways/folklore

These have more of an oral history twist, thus you’ll describe the item on one page and the second page must include: from where did you learn of this story or tradition; what is its purpose or moral in your opinion; does it have special meaning to you…ideas: maybe take a picture of a relative telling the story, doing the activity etc…

2 wild cards

You can duplicate an above item; write about yourself (autobiography); use the extra credit assigned if applicable (of course more in depth than the extra credit); discuss a movie that relates to Sociology; relate terms/theories!
