Types of Sources

There are so many types of sources to choose from! Here are the basic categories of sources in this section and what type of information each contains.

a. Background

Get a broad overview of your topic. Answer basic questions, build a foundation for further research, and find factual information.

b. Books

Discover in-depth information on a topic. You have a choice of printed books or eBooks online.

c. Articles

Highlight specific aspects of a topic or focus on a specific regional issue. The library has very few printed subscriptions to magazine, journal, and newspapers. Instead, we subscribe to these full-text search tools, aka "Databases." These online databases require a login from off-campus.

d. Free web sites

Spin the wheel, see what you get! Search via Google or browse a short listing compiled and evaluated by your friendly SAC Librarian.
